I Have Been in Recovery From Prescription Drug Addiction. Since October 1 2013?

Question by N!cky: I have been in recovery from prescription drug addiction. since October 1 2013?
Now my daughters father has temporary custody of her. My cps case has been unfounded. I still have my seven yr old son in my custody (different fathers) I go therapy and NA I’ve been sober since October 1 2013. Our next court date is April 7th. I miss my daughter terrible. I know I made my mistakes and I own up to them. Im a great mother that made a huge mistake. My pills where prescribed to me by a pain management. 3 yrs of prescriptions before I noticed it was to much that I was using more to self medicate my depression. I asked for help on my own without any court order. I just so scared the courts are going to give my daughter’s father sole custody. Please someone out there please give me advice as to want I should do to get my baby back. Please no rude comments. Thanks so much.

If I was you, I would get a solicitor! A damn good one.

Well done for improving and recovering from your addiction.

When you go to court, explain your situation. Explain how you got addicted and how you got rid of that addiction. It must of been tough so they shall see how much you've changed and how much you want to improve!

That's what I would do.

Good luck!!!

Alright I'm a kid (16) but I have been living with my grandparents since 5th grade and I'm now in 10th so almost 5 years. Both of my parents are drug addicts/ alcoholics. My dad has been sober for a year but not my mom, if their father get sole custody it's probably for the best and I am not saying that to be mean, it'll help with the recovery process so they don't see you going through that stuff. Since my dad has been sober so long I can spend as much time alone with him as I want. You just gotta try really hard and I know you can do it. If you prove yourself that you can stay clean I'm sure you will get partial custody someday. I'll pray for you.
