For hundreds of years, addictive substances have adversely affected populations, individuals, and whole countries. Each society has either smoked, inhaled or drunk a mind altering substance. Mead, pulca, opium, wine are but a few that can be historically traced to the pre Christian era. Today, an epidemic of great proportion has been caused by the tendency to socialize youngsters to value mind altering substances at an early age either by example of elders or by peer pressure. Movies, games, television, magazine glamorize substance use and make it seem normal. Yet the toll on human production and physical symptoms requiring massive medical remediations is uncalculable.
