Michigan Addiction Project-Change Begins with Understanding Part I – This is part one of two of a video that describes the true nature of addiction and what it does to the brain. Addiction is a chronic disease of the brain that must be treated like any other chronic medical condition, regularly and for life. Because most of society does not understand the true nature of addiction, a stigma exists for people who are experiencing an addiction problem and also for people who are in long term recovery. The Michigan Addiction Project believes that by elliminating this social stigma, we can get help for more people who struggle with addiction every day.
